A Cherry Blossom Festival Engagement Shoot in Washington, D.C.
The Cherry Blossom Festival is one of D.C.’s most spectacular events. People come from all over the world to see the trees in full bloom, which surround the Tidal Basin and other areas. As soon as the sun is up, the National Mall is swarming with tourists all wanting to experience this annual phenomenon.
So how do you photograph a session during this time without it looking like complete mayhem? You first have to absolutely plan for a weekday and secondly, but most importantly, beat the sun and get there at the crack of dawn. When I explained to Casie that our arrival time should be no later than 6:00am and she responded with, “We will be there!,” I knew it was going to be a fantastic shoot.
Getting to the Lincoln Memorial before anyone else that morning was truly priceless. We were fortunate enough to have great weather the entire time, as well as being lucky enough to find a few amazing secluded spots to ourselves. It just proves that a little less sleep and a little more determination can go a long way!
Travis and Casie, thank you so much for being bold and courageous enough to trust me with this idea and wake up before the sun to capture this amazing session. You both rock! <3
Such a gorgeous ring!
You can still have a sense of humor at the crack of dawn! lol
